About Us

The Redcliffe Community Bus for Disabled or Aged Inc is a not-for-profit organisation which uses its own buses and volunteer drivers and helpers to provide transport to members of the Redcliffe community who otherwise would be restricted to their homes.

Volunteers escort disabled and aged persons to the Redcliffe Library every Thursday, on shopping expeditions every Monday and every second Wednesday, on two half day excursions every month, and two full day trips or overnight trips to places of interest or entertainment every month.

The Redcliffe Community Bus for Disabled or Aged Inc had its beginnings in 1981 when a group of Redcliffe residents met to decide how they could do something to improve the lifestyle for the disabled residents of Redcliffe. The decision was made to raise funds to purchase a bus to take the residents on regular outings.

The Redcliffe Community Bus for Disabled or Aged Inc has increased membership to over 500 and is operating with 4 buses with a capacity ranging from 35 passengers to 16, including two with wheelchair access and hoist.

Limited operational funding is provided from the State and Federal governments under the HACC programme. To provide further funds, the spare capacity of the Community buses is made available for charter work to community groups. Phone Shirley on 3284 2815.
